Fishermen Fuel Subsidy Scheme
The Sindh government has officially launched a fuel subsidy program for small fishing boat owners aiming to support coastal communities and strengthen the fisheries sector through targeted financial assistance. Under the initiative eligible fishermen will receive Rs100,000 to Rs200,000 in subsidy support through Sindh Bank marking a major step toward economic relief for the fishing industry.

The Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muzaffar Muhammad Ali Malkani reported this development at the third review meeting of the Provincial Fisheries Regulatory Task Force in Karachi. He stressed that the program aimed at making transparent efficient and direct provision for real fishermen in Sindh.
CNIC-Based Registration Made Mandatory for Fishermen
One of the most important aspects of the new policy is the strict registration under CNIC-based registration, which means that no fisherman will registered without a valid Computerized National Identity Card. This is in order to make sure that the government’s subsidies and development programs received by the true fishermen said the minister.
The government has also integrated the fisheries system with NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) to verify identities and prevent misuse of funds. This digital linkage will expected to greatly enhance transparency in financial assistance distribution.

The Sindh government is introducing a barcode-based online system for multiple services, including:

Inspection and Regulation of Jetties
Inspections of jetties will carried out throughout coastal regions as part of wider reforms. Only fishermen who able to offer appropriate facilities will registered under the system. This step targeted to enhance the infrastructure standards and working conditions for the fishermen.
Security and Maritime Border Protection
The Fisheries Regulatory Task Force was established on government orders and continues to operate in coordination with the civil and armed forces to oversee operations in the coastal waters. The minister noted that security is always a priority; efforts are ongoing to curb drug trafficking, arms and other weapons smuggling and other crimes that can occur in coastal waters and to bolster maritime border protection.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Sindh government to establish a unified fisheries support system where fishermen can access financial assistance registration and compliance support in a seamless and efficient process.
